Extend the Functionality of Your Thule 916XTR T2 Hitch Rack

Although the ability to carry two bikes is good - four bikes is sometimes simply better, and better yet is the ability to choose between one or the other in a single rack configuration, depending on the number of bikes on hand. This is just what the Thule 918XTR provides. Perfect for growing families and/or ride coordinators who have a varying number or companions from ride to ride, the Thule 918XTR T2 2-Inch Receiver 2-Bike Add-on Hitch Rack is designed for cyclists/drivers who already own and enjoy the functionality of their Thule 916XTR T2 2-Bike Platform Hitch Rack, but want to extend their carrying capacity to four bikes.

The thule 918XTR is a seamless add-on, allowing for all the functionality of the base Thule 916XTR T2 hitch rack. This includes: quick-loading bike trays; SecureHook ratcheting technology that secures bikes to trays via independent heavy-duty foldable support arms that clamp down on front wheels; adjustable rear wheel straps that hold the rear of bikes to the tray; tilt down functionality -- even when loaded -- for rear vehicle access; and the ability to fold up all four bike trays towards the vehicle when not loaded.

Easy Modular Installation

The 918XTR T2's modular design ensures easy installation and removal as the number of riders changes. To install simply insert the 2-inch backbone add-on assembly of the 918XTR T2 inline with that of your existing and installed 916XTR T2 rack, and tighten. (The 918XTR T2 is only compatible with the 2-inch hitch configuration of the Thule 916XTR T2 carrier.) The longer platform created allows for the mounting of the two bike tray assemblies -- each with independent SecureHook support arms -- that are provided. Only minimal tools and measuring equipment are required for spacing and installation of trays. Once this has been done, owners can also utilize the retractable locks that attach bikes to the ratcheting heads of the SecureHook support arms, to provide protection against bike theft when away from your loaded vehicle. This is a significant security upgrade from the earlier 918XT T2 model.

About Thule

Thule was founded in 1942 by the Thulin family, when Eric Thulin, a true lover of the outdoors, put the Thule name on a pike trap he designed and began to sell in Scandinavia. It wasn't long before he added other practical items to the company's portfolio. By the 1960s, the company began to concentrate on car-related products, including its first roof rack. The Thulin family sold Thule to the publicly listed company Eldon in 1979, and it has continued to grow both organically and through acquisitions ever since. The Thule Group is a world leader in providing transport solutions for an active life.
